In the Middle Ages, thyme was given to knights and warriors before battle, as it was believed that its properties instilled courage. The ancient Greeks used it in baths and burned it as incense in temples, while the Egyptians employed it in traditional ceremonies. Today, thyme is a popular herb spice, often used in cuisines around the world. Add thyme essential oil to meat marinades and spicy appetizers to give dishes a fresh, herbal flavor.
